May is Lyme Disease Awareness Month and we at R.E.D. Laboratories are constantly working on improving the diagnostic tools to help better and faster evidencing of TBIs. R.E.D. Laboratories propose a more sensitive, Phelix Phage Borrelia PCR assay for detecting Lyme Disease and Relapsing Fever caused by Borrelia bacteria species. To do this, we target a phage DNA sequence specific to all Borrelia species: Lyme Disease and Relapsing Fever. Bacteriophages could become a diagnostic tool based on the principle that if there are phages it is because there are living bacteria.
We are working hard to spread the information on how to prevent Lyme and tick-borne diseases. We’ve created an educational brochure to help spreading awareness. Please share it; too many people are still now aware what to do when bitten by the tick.
If you are bitten by a tick, whenever possible get the tick tested.
Remember, a little tick can create a BIG PROBLEM!
