Bartonella and Babesia ImmunoBlots now available at R.E.D. Laboratories (Europe only)

We are happy to announce that R.E.D. Laboratories is now offering two new state-of-the-art tests for further tick-borne diseases detection: ImmunoBlots for Babesia and Bartonella (same provider as the one supplying IgeneX in the USA).

ImmunoBlotting is a form of testing that uses multiple pure, recombinant proteins sprayed in precise amounts at specific positions on the test strips to dramatically increase accuracy, and has long been considered the gold standard in infectious disease testing due to its superior sensitivity and specificity. These tests effectively replace traditional tests such as ELISA and the western blot.  

Until recently, diagnostic tests for Babesia and Bartonella have been grossly insensitive and have not been able to detect many of the ever-growing list of species and strains. These new ImmunoBlots overcome these obstacles, detects the full spectrum of disease: early, active and late-stage disease, detects antibodies to species and strains from North America, Europe and Australia.

The Babesia ImmunoBlot Test is a qualitative immunoassay that detects IgM and IgG antibodies directed against Babesia species in sera of patients suspected of having Babesia infection. The Babesia ImmunoBlot includes Babesia genus antigens and antigens from the following Babesia species: Babesia microti, Babesia duncani and Babesia spp. The test is done on serum.

The Bartonella ImmunoBlot Test is a qualitative immunoassay that detects IgM and IgG antibodies directed against Bartonella species in sera of patients suspected of having Bartonella infection. The Bartonella IgG ImmunoBlot includes Bartonella genus antigens and antigens from the following Bartonella species: Bartonella henselae, Bartonella quintana, Bartonella elizabethae and Bartonella vinsonii. The test is done on serum.
